School celebrates with Same Difference
EXCITED youngsters celebrated their school winning Best Garden at our We Can Do It awards by taking the stage alongside pop duo Same Difference.
Nine Year 5 pupils from Northern Junior School, Portchester, received their award from The News's gardening guru, Brian Kidd, before running into X-Factor finalists Sean and Sarah Smith backstage.
All members of the Ground Force Club, the children's hard work helped their school beat more than 200 others to win South and South East In Bloom.
Jade Tilbrook, nine, of Blakemere Crescent, Paulsgrove, said: 'It was extraordinary! I had my fingers crossed behind my back and I'm so happy we won.
'I feel like now we should have a huge party to celebrate.'
William Gardner, eight, of the Hillway, Portchester, added: 'I knew we were going to win, our gardens are really good and we've won prizes before.'
Alongside volunteers their team has been growing fruit and vegetables and building a new pond area.
