School receives boost of two rooms
A PRIMARY school has received a half-million pound cash boost in the shape of two new classrooms.
Temporary classrooms at Park Gate Primary School are to be replaced by two purpose-built classrooms in a 500,000 refurbishment programme which will also include other internal improvements.
Councillor David Kirk, Hampshire County Council's executive member in charge of children's services, gave the go-ahead to the design project which will extend the Northmore Road school in Locks Heath, giving it two new classrooms, toilets and storage room.
Other internal refurbishments will also improve the layout and acoustics of four existing classrooms.
A dedicated reception area play space will also be created with a special canopy to provide shelter form bad weather.
Work is expected to start on the scheme in January with completion due by October.
Cllr Kirk said: 'Hampshire County Council recognises that the quality of the learning environment plays an important role in children's education so I am delighted to agree to this project which will improve facilities at Park Gate Primary School.
