A SERIAL shoplifter who admitted committing 14 crimes has been spared jail.
Gary Saunders, 53, of Inglis Road, Southsea, admitted four counts of using threatening words or behaviour in Portsmouth and one count of failing to surrender to custody.
He stole a fake Prada purse and contents worth £195 from a property in Palmerston Road, Southsea and an iPhone from a man in Southsea.
Saunders assaulted a woman in Fawcett Road, Southsea, and attempted to steal a pair of glasses from Laly’s chemist in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth.
He stole more than £750 of goods in four thefts from a Boots store in Chichester. The crimes were committed between March and December.
Saunders was sentenced to four months in jail suspended for a year and told to pay £195 compensation by Portsmouth magistrates.
