Southsea home is targeted by burglars

PRECIOUS family pictures were stolen in a burglary a student house.

Thieves also took laptops, a hard drive containing university work and a significant amount of property during the burglary at a home in Francis Avenue, Southsea.

Burglars got into the home through an alleyway that runs along the back of the house, at some point between 7.55pm and 10pm on Thursday.

Police officers are carrying out an investigation.

PC Jo Shields, said: ‘One of the students has lost precious photographs of his two baby brothers who live in Hong Kong and who he rarely sees.

‘They are of huge sentimental value to him.

‘The burglar left with a very large rucksack which was black with orange trim.

‘It would have been very full and heavy with the items stolen.

‘If anyone saw anyone with a similar rucksack or acting suspiciously in the area please get in touch with the police.’
