Spinnaker Tower up against London Eye for award

Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

The iconic tower was shortlisted for the Best Attraction for Group Visits: Short Visit award by readers of Group Travel Organiser.

The Spinnaker is up against The London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, the Bank of England Museum in London, Cadbury World in Birmingham and The Beatles Story in Liverpool.

The winner will be announced at the Group Travel Awards in London on Friday June 11.

Paul Mahy, commercial manager for the tower, said: 'This is fantastic news and a rich reward for all the hard work the team have put in to make Spinnaker Tower such a great place to visit.

'We are only one of three attractions to be shortlisted in this category outside of London which just goes to reconfirm that we are firmly on the map as a national and iconic attraction.

'The fact that we've been nominated by people who have been visitors makes it even more special.'
