GLOVES, scarves and winter coats will be at the ready this weekend as the south endures another cold snap.
Temperatures are expected to plunge over the next few days as a biting easterly wind continues to blow across the south coast.
Today’s high will be around 4C, falling to 2C tomorrow.
The Portsmouth area looks set to be spared, however, from the severe disruption further north.
Snow was expected to blanket everywhere north of the M4 corridor, with up to eight inches hitting the worst affected areas of north-west of England, North Wales and south-west Scotland.
Winter will continue to linger into next week – despite Spring officially starting on Wednesday when day and night became nearly exactly 12 hours each.
Temperatures will hover around the 4C mark in Portsmouth with a cold north easterly breeze.
Forecasters are predicting this could turn out be the coldest March in 50 years – in contrast to last year when the south baked in a heatwave.
