Store's new look helps bring cash for charity
A town centre store has been given a makeover and helped raise hundreds for charity in the process.
Wilkinson, in West Street, Fareham, closed for two days earlier this week before its grand reopening on Thursday by mayor of Fareham, councillor Brian Bayford.
During the reopening celebrations, staff handed out sweets and balloons throughout the day and volunteers from the leukaemia charity, the Anthony Nolan Trust, Wilkinson's nominated charity of the year, held a raffle. The celebrations continue at the store today when children will be entertained by a face-painter, who will be in store from 10am to 4pm.
Lou Ludgate, the store's manager, said: 'We have been looking forward to the Fareham store receiving a fresh new look and creating a brighter shopping environment, while maintaining the same great low prices and fantastic bargains we are famous for.'
The makeover was part of a nationwide initiative by the company.
