Suspect in knife attack hit by taxi outside Southsea pub

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a fight outside a pub.

Police were called to the junction of Milton Road and Priory Crescent, near the Brewers Arms in Southsea.

A 30-year-old man, from Portsmouth, received injuries to his arms after allegedly being attacked by another man who was carrying a knife.

While the men were
fighting, there is though to have been a collision involving the suspect and a passing vehicle, which was described as a taxi. It happened at 8.44pm on Sunday, December 23.

Detective Constable Julie Way, of Portsmouth CID, said: ‘This was a vicious, violent attack with a weapon.

‘Police are appealing for any witnesses to the fight, and the driver of the vehicle that we believe had a collision with the suspect.’

Call CID at Fratton police station on 101.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
