Talented youngsters belt out the hits for festival finale

Portsmouth Guildhall was packed to the rafters last night for the finale to this year's Portsmouth Schools' Music Festival.

Talented youngsters from across the city took to the stage in front of rows and rows of their proud parents.

The festival, which has been going for more than 50 years, has taken over the Guildhall for much of the past week, with three nights of musical performances.

One of the guests at the Guildhall last night was the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr Terry Hall.

Speaking to The News, she said: 'All week the Guildhall has been buzzing and that's the way it should be. It has been fantastic

and the endeavour of the teachers, the volunteers and the young children has been great.

'The standard of the performances has been wonderful.'
