'They attacked me like pack of dogs'

A WOMAN was left bruised and terrified after being assaulted by a gang of girls in a bar.

Jane Omonbhude says she was punched in the face as she walked to get help from a bouncer in The Lord Palmerston pub.

She has described her attackers as behaving like 'a pack of wild dogs'.

The 40-year-old, from Baffins, suffered a black eye and now says she is too shaken by the experience to go out after dark.

'It was horrible,' she said. 'I don't even know how many of them were attacking me because I was shielding my face, but it was at least two.

'The whole thing was just vile, I've never encountered anyone acting so viciously in my life.

'They were out of control.'

Jane said she had been looking forward to a quiet night out in the pub on Friday, August 6, and didn't realise the Lord Palmerston, on Palmerston Road, turned into a club in the evenings.

'Since I got married I haven't been out clubbing at all,' she said.

'I don't think I've set foot in that sort of place for four years.

'We got up to have a dance and there were five girls who kept pushing into me and my friend Sally.

'Then one girl took a swing at my friend for no reason at all, and I had to take Sally away from the dance floor and calm her down.'

On her way to fetch a bouncer Jane was set upon by a group of girls, who grabbed her arm and repeatedly punched her in the side of the head.

No arrests have yet been made.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said they were conducting inquiries into the attack.

Officers are also reviewing a large amount of CCTV footage from the bar.
