Thieves break in to Southsea house during daylight hours

Burglars forced their way through the front door of a house.

Somebody forced the door of a home in Apsley Road, Southsea, before searching the mid-terrace house and stealing electrical items and jewellery.

The thieves made an untidy search of upstairs bedrooms and a search of the lounge.

They switched on the lights of the house while they searched.

Stolen items include a silver Tiffany necklace and a chain with silver heart pendants, a black iPhone 4, a black CNM touchpad with a blue screen and a black and brown Acer Aspire netbook.

PC Paul MacMillan, from Fratton police station, said: ‘Someone in the area may have noticed someone struggling to get in the front door.

‘Or they may have noticed lights on in a house which usually is unlit.

‘We also want to hear from anyone who has been offered cheap electrical items or mobile phones.’

It happened between 11am and 5pm on Thursday.

PC MacMillan is appealing for information on 101.
