Thug is jailed for drunken attack on kebab seller

A drunken yob has been locked up after shouting racist abuse at a kebab seller who had refused to give him free chillies.

Christopher Millard started banging on the van in Middle Road, Park Gate, near Fareham, and tried to grab hold of his victim.

The racist attack on May 30 this year was one of three terrifying incidents the 18-year-old has been jailed for.

The thug, from Sunlight Gardens, Fareham, was with two friends when he approached a 16-year-old, who was with his girlfriend, and confronted him at The Gillies, Fareham, at about 10.20pm on July 15.

He asked his victim: 'Do you know me?', before tripping him to the ground and pinning him down, demanding his money.

One of Millard's accomplices then stomped on the victim's face and took 10 from his pocket.

They then threatened to 'shoot him' if he told anyone what had happened.

Millard later revealed in police interview he had drunk up to half a bottle of vodka before the attack.

And on July 6, Millard and a 14-year-old accomplice - both drunk on vodka - confronted a 12-year-old and attacked him - with Millard kicking him in the back.

The youngster fled after telling them he didn't have any money.

Millard was sent down for 21 months after admitting robbery, attempted robbery and racially-aggravated harassment.

Sentencing at Portsmouth Crown Court, Judge Peter Henry said: 'Although neither of your victims in the robberies suffered any substantial injuries they both were left scared by these incidents.'

The court heard how Millard has racked up convictions since 2007 in-cluding battery, two counts of assault, one of assaulting a police officer, ABH, criminal damage, public order, burglary and theft.

He has been in custody since July and time already served will count towards his sentence.

Judge Henry added: 'This is your first time in custody. On the other hand I have taken into account the letter your mother has written, all the references you have brought from the young offenders' institution and the eyes the police will be keeping on you when you are released. It seems to me that the realistic sentence I can impose on you is 21 months.'
