Top MoD man in Gosport

THE top Ministry of Defence civil servant paid a visit to an agency in Gosport.

Jon Thompson, permanent secretary at the MoD, visited staff at the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA) at HMS Sultan on Tuesday.

Mr Thompson heard from staff at SPVA about the work they do, which includes issuing ID tags.

The agency is responsible all the salary, pension and injury compensation payments to members of the armed forces, processing 700,000 a month.

Mr Thompson said: ‘The work done here in Gosport means our soldiers, sailors and airmen get their pay on time and know that their day-to-day personnel administration is being fully taken care of.’
