Troops will take part in grand parade

PORTSMOUTH troops are due to take part in a parade to mark Queen’s diamond jubilee year.

Sailors, soldiers and airmen will mount a parade and muster in Windsor on Saturday, May 19 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 60th year on the throne.

Around 2,500 military personnel from the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force will parade through Windsor Castle and the town before Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh.

It’s understood Portsmouth-based sailors and soldiers from Hampshire’s Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment will take part.

The MoD said further details of who will take part in the event will be released in due course.
