A MAN is in intensive care after the car he was driving crashed into a tree this morning.
The driver of a blue Fiat Bravo was going along the B2070 (old A3 road), when it went off the road and into a tree.
Hampshire Constabulary were called at 6.35am, after a passer-by spotted the vehicle.
The driver, aged 20 and from the Petersfield area, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, where he is in intensive care with life-threatening injuries.
London Road with the junction of Pruetts Lane, in Petersfield, was closed for five hours, so the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance helicopter could land.
Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for information relating to the incident.
PC Chris Powling, of the Fratton Roads Policing Unit, said: ‘A passer-by called us when they saw the car in the tree.
‘We do not know when the incident happened, and are appealing for information.’
Anyone with information should contact Sgt Wayne Voller at the Fratton RPU on 101.
