WAR veterans from across Havant borough are being invited to enjoy an evening with the mayor.
Councillor Gerald Shimbart is inviting veterans to join him for the event at The Plaza from 6pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, April 23, which is St George’s Day.
Portsmouth’s Arctic Convoy veteran Commander Eddie Grenfell has been invited to be guest of honour.
Cllr Shimbart said: ‘We thought he deserved it for the work he has done in getting the Arctic Convoy medal. He’s put in a lot of effort and work over the years.
‘I think he deserves to be recognised in public.’
