Volunteers restore eight old benches for Gosport museum

Eight benches have been lovingly restored by museum volunteers.

The benches have been transformed free of cost by Harry Morgan and Eddie Midwinter, who stripped them down and restored them to their former glory.

The pair are volunteers from the Explosion! Museum in Gosport, outside which the benches are now located.

The benches were originally in the High Street, Gosport, but after the recent revamp of the town centre they were given to the museum by the council.

It is hoped that the restored benches, situated at the museum green and around the museum, will mean more residents and visitors can enjoy the museum's waterfront views.

Museum visitor services officer, Marc Farrance, said: 'The work done by all of our volunteers is truly remarkable. Their enthusiasm and commitment is a fantastic asset for us and we greatly appreciate the work they do.'

The museum is currently open at weekends only. For more information call (023) 9250 5600 for or visit the website explosion.org.uk
