DRIVERS are being advised to take care over the weekend with a return of snow, strong winds and rain.
The Highways Agency has issued an amber alert for England after the Met Office’s forecast of snow in the south east this afternoon.
The agency warns that strong winds could lead to snow causing disruption to traffic.
Wet and windy weather will plague the area into Sunday morning, which along with melting snow could lead to flooding.
Drivers are advised to check weather and travel advice in the area before setting out, along with watching out for overhead messages on roads.
The agency also suggests leaving extra time for journeys, keeping a longer breaking distance from vehicles while driving, and avoiding sudden manoeuvres.
Steve Crosthwaite, head of the Highways Agency’s National Traffic Operations Centre said: ‘With another flurry of snow expected, we ask people to remain alert and continue to take care when travelling.
‘As always, we ask people to give our winter fleet the space they need to do their job.’
