Warning after theft of horse from field
Horse owners have been warned to be extra vigilant after a horse was stolen from a Hampshire field
The two-year-old stallion, called Riley, was taken on Thursday from Hinton Manor Lane, Clanfield.
His owner returned to find the animal, which is micro-chipped, missing and then contacted police.
PC Karen Wenzel, of Hampshire police, issued a warning to horse owners to check their security. Witnesses are being asked to come forward.
The bright-coloured bay horse has a black mane and tail, flecked with grey and a white blaze covering the jaw and chin.
PC Wenzel said: 'We would urge those involved with the horse community to call in if they are aware of any horses suddenly turning up in their area unexpectedly.
'Please be aware of your animal's security and check gates and stables are as secure as possible.'
On June 18 a stallion was stolen from a field at Tanhouse Lane, Hedge End, Southampton, but was returned a day later following a public appeal.
