Wedding date is a cash bonanza

A sailor is weighing up his future after scooping £1.5m on the lottery.

Newly-wed Martin Adamson, 29, changed his Lotto numbers to incorporate the May 4 date of his wedding to Hannah Revill, 22.

It worked wonders as they picked up a 1,477,059 share along with two other winners in last Saturday's draw.

Their bumper payday came just six days after tying the knot, and it means the Royal Navy weapons engineer may not need to stay in his job.

The Iraq veteran, who is based at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, said: 'I'm undecided whether I will stay in the navy or not.'

But before any decision the Adamsons will take a honeymoon which was held up by his apprenticeship at Collingwood.

Mr Adamson said: 'Winning the lottery has been the perfect end to a perfect week.

'We got married, we're looking forward to the birth of our first child and now we can buy a house and have a honeymoon too.'

The lucky couple are expecting their first child in November and now they can buy a plush home in which to start a family.

Mr Adamson, from Plymouth, Devon, also fancies a flash sports car.

His wife added: 'It will be wonderful to be able to afford a house that doesn't need any DIY, because Martin's awful at it.

'I think he would like to buy a Porsche or an Aston Martin and we've always dreamed of visiting Las Vegas and Hawaii.'

Mrs Adamson was in the Navy until last year, when she quit to train as a teacher.

She said: 'I'm definitely going through with my plans because it's something I enjoy. We only found out recently that I'm expecting a baby.

'Because I'm at university we thought it might be better financially to move into navy married quarters.

'But now we can afford our own dream home.'

Martin Adamson has played the lottery for 13 years and it was only his marriage that made him change the tried and tested formula. He swapped the traditional number three for number four, to mark his May 4 wedding day.

His winning numbers were:

4 – The date of their wedding

14 – The date of Martin's birthday

18 – His sister Michelle's birthday

24 – Date of Hannah's birthday

32 – His old house number

40 – A random choice
