HEAVY rain has caused flooding on the A27 near Chichester.
The road was closed in the early hours between Tangmere and Bognor Bridge and a diversion has been set up.
Parts of the country are waking up to several inches of snow this morning, but milder temperatures on the south coast meant the precipitation fell as rain rather than snow.
The Environment Agency has put out a flood warning for the River Ems at Westbourne, near Emsworth, including New Brighton, Commonside, and the B2147 at Racton House.
Meanwhile, forecasters are predicting the cold weather will last until the middle of March.
Blasts of cold air from the Arctic and Siberia are set to bring icy conditions to the south.
Forecaster Helen Roberts said: ‘It will be drier but colder for the next 30 days. If there is any precipitation it is more likely to fall as snow.’
