Who will take over beauty spot?

TIME is running out for people to have their say about the future of a picturesque harbour.

Plans are in place to hand over Pagham Harbour in West Sussex to the RSPB.

West Sussex County Council has managed the nature reserve for decades, but in a cost-cutting move it hopes to hand over management to the wildlife charity.

A public consultation is under way about the proposal and the deadline is September 4.

More than 70 responses have been received and more than 200 people attended a public exhibition.

Chris Corrigan, RSPB regional director, said: 'It was really instructive to hear people's hopes and fears for Pagham Harbour.

'I hope people were reassured to find we have vast experience in managing places like Pagham Harbour, working closely with communities and all the many different groups of countryside visitors.'

Comments should be emailed to pagham.future@westsussex.gov.uk.
