A WOMAN who harassed the Gosport family of missing toddler Katrice Lee has been given a 12 week suspended sentence.

Donna Wright, 33, from Spennymoor in County Durham had pleaded guilty to harassing Katrice’s mum Sharon and sister Natasha at a hearing at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court last month.

Wright had sent a number of Facebook messages to the pair and had claimed to be the missing toddler, despite tests proving this to be false.

Katrice was just two years old when she sent missing from a supermarket in Paderborn, Germany where her father Richard was based with the British Army in 1981.

The sentence will be suspended for 18 months with supervision and Wright must pay £400 in compensation.

She was given a restraining order and must not contact Sharon, Natasha, Richard and two named friends.

She must also not comment on ‘The Search for Katrice Lee’ Facebook page, change her own name on the site, along with a number of other conditions to do with the social networking website, or make public comments about the Lees.

Natasha said she was disappointed by the sentence and feels insulted that Wright must pay compensation.

She said: ‘I would have liked her to have a stiffer sentence If I’m perfectly honest.

‘For me that sentence doesn’t fit the crime that she has committed.

‘What do I want £200 compensation for?

‘If I’m going to get that it’s going to go straight to missing people.

‘I just feel it’s bit of a slap in the face to be honest, I am really gutted.’
