Woman cut free after Havant crash

A woman had to be cut from a people carrier after an accident yesterday afternoon.

At 3.40pm, a large Transit removals van and a people carrier collided on Purbrook Way, Havant.

Police, ambulance and fire services attended the scene of the crash, and the road was closed while the rescue and clean-up operation took place.

Three fire engines, two from Havant fire station and one special equipment unit from Cosham worked on the rescue, and were forced to cut the roof off the people carrier to move one of its passengers to safety.

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: 'The crews were out to make sure any injuries that had been suffered weren't made any worse and to ensure people who needed treatment got it.

'We cut the roof off to free one woman.'

No-one was injured in the accident, though paramedics treated one woman for shock at the scene of the accident.

Purbrook Way was reopened at 4.10pm
