Woman jailed for smuggling £1 million drugs through Portsmouth ferry port
A woman who tried to smuggle £1 million pounds worth of cocaine through Portsmouth ferry port has been jailed.
Louise Brindle was stopped when she arrived at the port on December 11, 2006.
The customs officers searched her Vauxhall Corsa and discovered 10kg of cocaine in the fuel tank of the car.
Today at Bournemouth Crown Court, Brindle, 33, of Christchurch, Dorset, was jailed for five years.
The court heard that she was part of a much bigger operation to import class A drugs into the United Kingdom from South America.
Four other defendants who were involved in the multi million pound operation were also jailed.
Jeff Hajebrahin, 44, and Alan Austin, 55, of Barnstable, Devon, who were the money and brains behind the operation, were jailed for 22-years each.
Poria Abraham, 24, of Bournemouth was jailed for 12-years and Ali Takolinia, 39, was jailed for 11-years for their respective roles.
