Yob's Facebook boasts after he avoids jail
A thug who launched a ferocious attack on a student after a night out drinking has boasted on Facebook after escaping jail.
Just hours after bricklayer Paul Rossie was let off with a suspended sentence for the brutal assault he was laughing about it online.
CCTV footage shows dad-of-one Rossie knock 18-year-old Tom Slack unconscious and continue to punch and kick him as he lay on the ground.
At one point the 24-year-old kicks his victim so hard his shoe flies off.
Rossie then picks it up and uses it as a weapon to repeatedly hit Mr Slack in the face.
Portsmouth Crown Court heard Rossie had been to Portsmouth's Liquid and Envy nightclub when he got involved in a row with his girlfriend Colleen Breach outside, in Stanhope Road.
The video shows the couple arguing and Mr Rossie getting more and more agitated.
As Mr Rossie started pushing her around, Mr Slack, who was walking past, asked what was going on.
That was the trigger for a sustained and brutal attack which a judge described as horrific. Rossie, of Grove Road, Drayton, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm following the attack on March 4.
He was given a nine month sentence suspended for two years and ordered to do 100 hours community service. He has to pay 500 in compensation to Mr Slack.
After his sentencing Rossie joked about the attack on his social networking page, saying: 'Was looking at 12 months today and got 100 hours community service and a 9 month sentence suspended for two years FREEDOM!!!!!!!'
Mr Slack was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital after the attack but had luckily only been left with bruising. Recorder Nicholas Gerasimidis said: 'You were out in Portsmouth with your girlfriend clearly being threatening towards her when your victim Mr Slack walked up to you to inquire what you were doing.
'Your immediate response was to launch what was a ferocious attack.
'It's very fortunate for you that it only lasted a short period of time but it was a disgusting piece of conduct for which there can be no excuse. You punched him numerous times whilst he was on the floor. You kicked him and your shoe came off and you used that to hit him around the head.
'It's extremely fortunate for you that he didn't suffer anything more than some bruising. When I saw the footage I was horrified.
'It was disgraceful conduct committed in public late at night on the streets of this city.'
