PEOPLE from our area are getting ready to carry the Olympic flame from Reading to Salisbury.

Four people from Portsmouth, Fareham and Chichester will take their torches along a route which stretches hundreds of miles.

It starts in Reading, passing through Newbury, Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover before arriving in Salisbury later this evening.

The four torchbearers from our area are: Spence Whatmore, 38, from Chichester, who will carry the torch through Winchester; 16-year-old Sophie Piper, from Portsmouth, who carries the flame through Andover; Sian Wood, 24, who will take the torch through Winchester and 17-year-old Maisie Rafferty, 17, from Portsmouth, who will also go through Winchester.
