NEXT week, the people of Portsmouth should watch out for a new monthly newspaper dropping through their letterboxes.

The News is launching Portsmouth View, which will be sent out to 50,000 homes across the city.

The new publication will focus on the positive stories happening in Portsmouth, the positive people who live there.

As well as news, business, features and entertainment, it will also include community views from several city figureheads.

The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Lynne Stagg will be providing a regular column about her work and engagements.

DJ Darren Gamblen, from the city’s community radio station Express FM, will write about his thoughts on living and working in the city.

And there will be musings on the city’s bustling culture scene from Strong Island, an independent organisation which promotes the positive aspects of Portsmouth.

If that’s not enough, then community groups and organisations can stand to win £250 in our monthly cash giveaway.

And there will be two pages of events listings, giving readers a heads up on where to go in the city in the coming weeks.

Paul Foster, editor of Portsmouth View, said: ‘Portsmouth is such a great place to live, work and play and this paper will reflect that.

‘We hope people will enjoy reading it.’

The paper will be distributed from next Friday.
