IT WAS a walk to remember for superfan and Norman Wisdom lookalike Glenn Ford.

The 55-year-old completed his charity challenge of walking around the Isle of Man to honour his favourite funnyman Sir Norman, who used to live there.

Knowing I had walked and visited places which were familiar to Norman Wisdom was amazing.

Glenn, from Gosport, decided to take on the 100-mile route to raise money for a charity.

He said: ‘It was a wonderful experience. The scenery was amazing and the people of the Isle of Man were extremely friendly so it was a pleasant experience.

‘Knowing I had walked and visited places which were familiar to Norman Wisdom was amazing.’

Glenn, pictured, started his impression of Sir Norman’s comedy character Norman Pitkin when he tried on a flat cap in the early 1980s and noticed the likeness. Since then, he has become known in the showbusiness world as Sir Norman’s lookalike.

The walk was the second time Glenn has completed a challenge to keep Sir Norman’s memory alive.

In February, he walked from Cardiff to London – an event he would like to do again.

‘I just want to carry on fundraising for the Grand Order of Water Rats which was close to Norman’s heart,’ he said.

He has now raised more than £8,000 for the organisation, which donates money to charitable causes. This latest walk raised more than £800, although he said he’d like to reach an £10,000 overall target.
