A PORTSMOUTH firm is carrying out a refit of Lord Alan Sugar’s yacht.

Magma Structures is currently providing work to Burgess Marine who are working on the refit of Lord Sugar’s superyacht, Lady A at Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester.

The firm is providing structural design and engineering expertise to enable the installation of larger stabilizers to the custom built 55m motor yacht.

In addition the team of composite design engineers and manufacturers are assisting with modifications to the stern gear and rudders of the GRP motoryacht.

Lady A, ex Southern Cross III, Emihar Chios and Indian Princess was recently purchased by Lord Sugar. She was built in 1986 in Japan with interior and exterior styling by Jon Bannenberg. The vessel arrived at Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester in September where she is undergoing a 10 month refit.

Ray Cutts, Burgess Marine’s technical director and project lead said: ‘It’s been fantastic to work with Magma Structures. Their composite experience and Superyacht knowledge coupled with their unrivalled technical expertise has genuinely helped keep the program on time and on budget.’
