TRAIN services going in and out of Havant are facing minor delays after a lorry hit a level crossing.

The British Transport Police said at just after 2.15pm today a lorry hit the crossing barrier in New Lane.

A spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to New Lane level crossing in Havant following a report of a lorry striking a crossing barrier at 2.17pm.

‘It is believed the lorry struck the barrier and damaged it as it was lowering.’

Network Rail sent engineers to fix the barrier, which has been causing delays to services.

Engineers finished their repairs at 4pm.

A spokesman said: ‘It was reported to us that a lorry had struck the barrier at a crossing.

‘It has been fixed by engineers, but it will cause minor delays for services in and out of Havant.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience.’
