RADIO presenters and charity fundraisers have completed a charity challenge which saw them cycle the national parks of Madagascar.

Wave 105’s morning presenter Mark Collins, newsreader Michael Coombes, and the team raised more than £98,000 by cycling through the parks for Wave 105’s charity, Cash for Kids.

The team of 27, which consisted of Wave 105 staff, listeners, and Cash for Kids charity supporters, cycled 280 miles in five days.

The ride took place over the north east of the African island, through a range of terrains and varied landscapes, including tropical fruit plantations, paddy fields, and coastal paths.

On average the group cycled the equivalent distance from Poole to Portsmouth each day. On the toughest day, they cycled 65 miles.

Expedition leader Mark said: ‘This was my fourth trip for Wave 105 Cash for Kids, and it was without a doubt the toughest challenge I’ve ever done. I had been training with Michael and preparing in the gym, but the hills were more extreme than we anticipated, as was the climate.’
