THERE was dancing in the streets as hundreds of people gathered in Portsmouth to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Traditional food and entertainment were on offer in well-attended events at two Southsea restaurants and the New Theatre Royal.
At Chez Choi and Noble House, in Osborne Road, the Year of the Rabbit was seen in on Friday with lion dancing and firecrackers, before a party in which customers danced between the two restaurants.
Yesterday, the Portsmouth Chinese Association brought their award-winning folk dancing to a variety show at the Guildhall Walk theatre, attended by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Paula Riches.
Restaurant owner Albert Choi said: ‘Every year it is a brilliant occasion. Both events were wonderful fun.’
