The University of Portsmouth Choir has joined forces with Portsmouth Cathedral Choir for a programme of choral music.

Heavenly Voices takes place at St Thomas’ Cathedral, Old Portsmouth tomorrow.

The concert will be a mix of sacred settings by Dvorak and Tippett with popular-styled works based on William Shakespeare by the likes of George Shearing, Matthew Harris and Bob Chilcott.

This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of the world-famous playwright, poet and actor.

George Burrows, conductor of the university choir, said: ‘It’s quite rare for the two choirs to work together on a concert like this, so Sunday’s concert promises to be something very special indeed.

‘Between us we have a wealth of singing talent, and the varied programme means there will be something for everyone.

‘The cathedral is a beautiful setting and will show off our massed voices magnificently.’
