FAMILIES enjoyed the sunshine in summer activities held at adventure playgrounds in the city.

Portsmouth City Council set up a number of themed events to keep children entertained over the holidays.

The last one is being held at Stamshaw Adventure Playground, Western Terrace, Stamshaw, on August 30.

The theme, this time, is cartoons.

The cartoon-filled fun day will have families enjoying themselves and joining in with arts and crafts, food, music and a whole host of cartoon-themed activities.

Joan Fisher, Play Service Manager, said: ‘The playgrounds have come up with some great themes this year for the summer festivals. Kids can enjoy all the regular action plus themed activities, food and music.’

WHAT’S ON...

THIS bank holiday weekend is full of fun-filled family events that will keep you busy.

The Victorious Festival today and tomorrow is set to be a highlight with five stages of live music, an indoor big top, real ale tent and a boutique market.

There will also an appearance from Peppa Pig in the large children’s arena.

Away from the festival, families can learn the ins and outs of knot tying at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.

Or families can go up the Spinnaker Tower to see Portsmouth for a bird’s eye view.

Kids can try and find their houses and their schools or watch the ships come in.
