POLICE had to be called after drivers saw a man fall from a motorway bridge last night.

The incident happened at around 9.50pm on the northbound section of the A3(M) near to the Bedhampton B&Q depot, close to the Crookhorn turnoff.

The man, who has not been identified by police, was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police said this morning the man was understood to be in a stable but critical condition with extensive injuries.
