A LIFEBOAT took an injured man to shore after he suffered head injuries from a boom.

The French sailor was aboard a yacht south of Gilkicker Point.

The lifeboat from Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue took him to The Camber at Portsmouth.

An ambulance then took him to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham.

The incident happened at about 9.10pm last night.

The coastguard had had difficulty finding the man.
