FIREFIGHTERS from Southsea rescued a trapped resident during the early hours of this morning.

Three crews were called out to Highland Road, Southsea, just after midnight this morning.

Around 10 firefighters attended the three storey property and one crew from Cosham fire station was also alerted to stand by.

The man was rescued from the house and was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, for further treatment.

An investigation has been launched by the fire authority to determine the cause of the blaze.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said: ‘There were multiple seats of fire, so the cause of the fire is doubtful.

‘A fire investigation is taking place.’
