EIGHT firefighters were called to a home in Portsmouth to put out a cooker fire.

A man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation after the fire service was called to Lynn Road in Buckland, at 2.30pm on Saturday.

The man was not taken to hospital.

Firefighters from Southsea fire station, some using breathing apparatus, spent 45 minutes putting out the fire and making the scene safe.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
