DESPITE temperatures plummeting this week, Darin McCloud is determined to carry on training to prepare for the London Marathon.
The 46-year-old will be taking part in this April’s 26-mile run in the capital city.
As previously reported in The News, the traffic warden hit the headlines in January last year when he admitted he was piling on the pounds to qualify for weight-loss surgery.
But instead he changed his eating habits and started running to lose weight. He went from 21st to 16st 10lbs.
He is running for charity Look, which helps children with visual impairments and has set a target to raise £1,500 for it.
Darin, of Stanley Road, Stamshaw, said: ‘I’m still continuing my training, even though it’s been cold these past few mornings.
‘But it’s given me more of a mental challenge to keep going in the cold.
‘I’ve been running along the seafront and doing about nine miles’
