Who knew that the Gruffalo cared about elephants?

The children’s book favourite will be making an appearance at a family fun day in Waterlooville, which will raise money for abused orphan elephants in Thailand.

It will be taking place at Anders Hall in Jubilee Park, Waterlooville on bank holiday Monday from 1pm to 4pm and admission is free.

The event includes a bouncy castle, a raffle, stalls, cakes courtesy of Kasha’s Kupcakes and face painting by Fanzee Faces.

There will also be the opportunity to take a picture with the Gruffalo – one of the icons of children’s literature.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Pod Charity, a non-profit organisation which organises volunteer placements overseas, including the project in Thailand.

The charity has provided volunteer work around the world for more than 15 years and is always looking into new projects to help.
