GLOBE-TROTTER Paul Carter took to life on foreign soil before finding his feet in Purbrook.
Paul, originally from Hertfordshire, moved to France when he was 20 and worked as a campsite caterer.
After a year he began working with Fullers as a barman at The Ship Inn, in Wokingham, Berkshire.
He then took to the reins as the landlord of the Red Lion, in Ealing, London, before jetting off to New Zealand.
But life overseas wore thin and five years ago he returned to England, where he met partner Becky at The Victoria Arms, in Reading. The couple now hope to do great things at The Woodman.
Becky, from Reading, said: ‘It’s still the tip of the iceberg in terms of what we can achieve here.’
