PHOTOGRAPHS, film footage and maps sparked an afternoon of reminiscences about Leigh Park.

Marking Space craft centre is undertaking a two-year project called On the Streets Where We Live which will document the history of the estate through people’s memories and memorabilia.

The first roadshow was held at Barncroft Primary School, in Park Lane, and some real treasures turned up.

Lynne Dick is one of the organisers of the National Lottery-funded project.

She said: ‘A Miss Amy who retired as headteacher of Barncroft in 1973 brought along a book given to her by her pupils who all signed it.

‘It was lovely to meet her and I was able to put her in touch with one of the first pupils who started the school in 1950.

‘People brought along photos and just by talking to each other people came up with wonderful nuggets of information.’

The next roadshows are:

· March 31, 1pm to 4pm at the West Leigh function room, Havant and Waterloovile Football Club, Martin Road, Havant.

· April 12 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at St Clare’s Church, St Clare’s Avenue, Warren Park.

· April 23, 11am to 2pm at Leigh Park Community Centre, Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park.
