Two men have denied stealing £5,000 worth of lead from a primary school roof.

Ashley Littlejohn and James McCall both appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court charged with theft.

The men, both aged 25, are alleged to have stolen the lead from Fernhurst Junior School in Francis Avenue, Southsea, on October 27.

Littlejohn, of Goldsmith Avenue, Fratton and McCall, of Charles Street, Landport, pleaded not guilty to theft.

The pair were released on bail for trial in March.
