SPORTS broadcaster Mike Parry returns to the national airwaves this weekend a fortnight after quitting his former job.
The one-time TalkSport favourite will host the popular 606 phone-in programme on the BBC’s Five Live station.
The veteran journalist will run the show with his old sparring partner Robbie Savage, the Derby County midfielder who is quitting the game at the end of the season.
Mr Parry, a former columnist with The News who has homes in Portsmouth and Gosport, left his daily TalkSport programme on February 3.
He said he resigned after ‘a long-running contractual dispute’ between him and the station which went back to last year’s World cup in South Africa.
But five days later that station announced that disgraced Sky Sports presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys would be taking over Mr Parry’s old slot – a programme which started yesterday.
Mr Parry told The News: ‘I’ve got this brilliant opportunity to do 606 after the Manchester United v Crawley FA Cup tie on Saturday.
‘It’s a one-off at the moment and who knows where it might lead. It’s probably the most-listened to sport show in the world.’
