The first of four fundraising coffee mornings has been held at Portsmouth Guildhall as part of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
It was raising money for Portsmouth Alzheimer’s Society and Portsmouth Oncology Cancer Care.
The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth Frank Jonas will be present at all the events.
Marcella Payne, appeal co-ordinator said: ‘It was very successful. People can have tea, coffee and cake for £2 each and there is loads of bric-a-brac.
‘The mayor walks around each table so it is a good way to meet the mayor and have a nice morning out.’
Further coffee mornings are set to take place in the Banqueting Room of the Guildhall on February 22, March 28 and April 26.
Each coffee morning takes place from 10am till midday and entry is £2 on the door.
