MINIONS are set to take over North End today in a bid to boost shopper footfall.

Traders will dress up as the characters from the popular films Minions and Despicable Me from 10am to 2pm.

Shoppers will be able to have pictures taken with them and there will be a Halloween pumpkin competition for children.

The promotion was an idea from Portsmouth North MP Penny Mordaunt, who hopes it will attract families to the area to shop.

Mr Mordaunt told The News: ‘We really felt North End needs something to attract families.

‘The traders really feel we need to put on some fun events, and one of the things we thought about is Minions taking over North End, and arrange to get Minion outfits.’
