A MOPED and a car have crashed on a key route in and out of Portsmouth.

The collision, at the junction where the A288 Copnor Road meets Stubbington Avenue, in Copnor, involved a moped and a BMW X5.

Major delays were caused as a result of the incident, which happened at around 7.45am.

There were no serious injuries but an ambulance was called to the scene and the moped rider was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.

The road was reopened shortly before 8.25am and police say it has been cleared.

Drivers should expect possible delays for a short time after the crash.
