Moray eel finds home at seaside aquarium

A SOUTHSEA aquarium has welcomed a new attraction – a 60cm-long moray eel.

The Blue Reef Aquarium has taken in the spotted creature after it outgrew its former tank at an aquarium shop in Maidenhead.

Display supervisor Martyn Chandler said the eel had not yet finished growing and could reach up to 3m in length.

Mr Chandler said: ‘Morays are generally quite shy and secretive creatures that spend much of their time hiding inside crevices among the coral reefs.

‘The fish often look threatening as they open and close their mouths in a menacing way but this is just the way they breathe.’
