A MAJOR road was closed for more than an hour after a car careered out of control and hit the central reservation.

Just after 6pm today the driver of a Nissan Micro crashed into the central reservation of Eastern Way, Fareham.

The car spun over and landed on its roof. Both the occupants, a mother and her 10-year-old daughter, walked away from the collision with minor injuries after managing to free themselves from the wreck.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said the accident, on the westbound carriageway close to the Delme roundabout, was not serious.

They said the mother and daughter were taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, as a precaution with ‘very. very minor injuries’.

Police reopened the road at 7.20pm.
